Defibrillator

Thanks to the Buckhorn Weston Village Community Trust (BWVCT), Buckhorn Weston has an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for emergency use. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable, life-saving device used to treat sudden cardiac arrest by analyzing the heart’s rhythm and delivering an electric shock to restore a normal heartbeat. Designed for public use by untrained individuals, they provide voice instructions and are commonly found in workplaces, schools, and airports.

Location

The defibrillator is installed in a heated and alarmed cabinet on the front wall of The White House, next door to the Stapleton Arms.   The cabinet is NOT locked but it is alarmed.

Operation

Just open the cabinet door and take the defibrillator, in its case, to the casualty.  You don’t need any training to use it, full instructions are provided automatically when it’s switched on.

The BWVCT will stop the alarm and reset the defibrillator after it has been returned.  Please contact Vicky Moore if you need further advice. Vicky can also provide a list of Community First Aiders.
